Chelsea to receive £25m as Milan make permanent move for Fikayo Tomori

Fri 04 June 2021 | 23:12

AC Milan have reportedly set to complete the signing of Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori after exercising the £25m clause to make his loan move permanent this summer.

According to Journalist

Fabrizio Romano

, the Italian side have officially triggered the clause to make the move a permanent one, a five-year deal that will be completed next week.

Milan tried to lower the agreed £25m fee but the Premier League club refused.

Tomori

joined

Chelsea

at age 8 and appeared to be one of several Academy stars who successfully made the jump to the first-team level last season. But for some reason, he had fallen out of favor with

Frank Lampard

, and ended up playing just 7 times in the 2020 calendar year.

The 23-year-old decided to join

AC Milan

on an initial six-month loan in January. He helped the club secure a second-place finish and a return to the Champions League after a seven-year absence.

Tomori made 17 league appearances at Milan, scoring once against Juventus, as he replaced club captain

Alessio Romagnoli

.

Tomori won his only senior England cap so far against Kosovo in November 2019, shortly before he signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
