Mbappe thinks that Haaland shouldn’t be compared to him because he's at the beginning.

Paris Saint-Germain

Kylian Mbappe

has been compared with

Borussia Dortmund’s

young star

Erling Haaland

, and the World Cup winner has played down the comparisons insisting that Haaland is at the beginning of his career and the world is just getting to know him.

When asked if he compares himself to the Norwegian frontman, Mbappe told

GQ Magazine

"It’s his second year, we’re getting to know him. It’s the start for him.

"I'm happy for him, for what he’s doing.”

Despite not agreeing with being compared to Haaland, Mbappe admits that he likes comparing his abilities to better players than himself and thinks it’s a good thing for every player.

“You do always compare yourself with the best in your sport, just as the baker compares himself with the best bakers around him,"

he said

. "Who makes the best croissant, the best pain au chocolate?

"I watch matches of other great players to see what they’re doing. 'I know how to do this, but can the other guy do it too?’ I think other players watch me, too.

"I think that pushes players to raise their game, just as Messi was good for Ronaldo and Ronaldo was good for Messi.”

Kylian Mbappe has been one of the Ballon d’Or contenders after his impressive performances at Parc Des Princes and has been one of the most important players for his side. He has scored 231 goals in his career, and these things are what makes him different than other players like Haaland.

But the media insists that Mbappe and Haaland will be the next Messi and Ronaldo.
