Mkhitaryan reunites with Mourinho at Roma

Following a prolific 2020-21 campaign, the Armenia international decided to sign an extension with Roma that will keep him for another year.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

has admitted how he fell in love with

Roma

after having his contract extended with the Serie A side, meaning he is going to work under

Jose Mourinho

once again.

He was playing for the Giallorossi on a loan spell before making his stay permanent a year ago and has been playing regularly under Paulo Fonseca in the 2020-21 season.

The 32-year-old has met the back of the net 15 times and contributed 11 assists in 46 games, including going to the Europa League semi-finals where he faced one of his ex-teams.

"

Over the last two years at Roma I've fallen in love, both with the club and the city, thanks in large part to the incredible passion of the fans,"

Mkhitaryan said.

"The club's ambitions are very high and I am proud to have the chance to play my part as we take on all the challenges that await us next season. Daje Roma!"

Mkhitaryan is not going to work under Fonseca anymore, as the Portuguese was replaced by Mourinho. Mourinho was the manager of Manchester United when the Premier League club made a move on Mkhitaryan and acquired his services in 2016. He featured in 41 games for the Red Devils, but failed to secure his stay for the next year. Mourinho slammed him for lacking consistency and he moved to Arsenal in 2018.

Now, however, the duo are going to reunite at Roma, who are preparing for the Europa Conference League after ending the Serie A season sitting seventh.
