Netherlands goalkeeper has tested positive for coronavirus and is set to miss the upcoming European Championship.

Jasper Cillessen

was on Frank de Boer's 26-man squad for the Euro 2020, alongside

Maarten Stekelenburg

Tim Krul

However, De Boer withdrew Cillessen from his squad today after the Valencia shot-stopper tested positive for coronavirus. AZ keeper

Marco Bizot

is set to replace Cillessen in Netherlands roseter.

Now in Cillessen’s absence, Stekelenburg and Krul will enter the race to become Netherlands’ No.1 goalkeeper in the upcoming European Championship.

Commenting on excluding Cillessen from his final list, De Boer said at a press conference:

"Let me start by saying this is incredibly sour for Jasper.

"I informed him of my decision this morning. I had to take the plunge. He tested positive for coronavirus and as a result missed an important part of our preparations.

"We don't know how long it will take until he is 100 per cent fit again. I don't want to take any chances. We are on the eve of a European Championship and I want certainty."
