Mon 31 May 2021 | 9:49

The Bayer Leverkusen chief has addressed the interest they are receiving for the centre-back from the Premier League.

Simon Rolfes

,

Bayer Leverkusen

’s director, talked about the speculations surrounding

Edmond Tapsoba

, who is attracting interest from

Arsenal

.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to the Gunners after displaying impressive performances this season, with Mikel Arteta considering him as a replacement for David Luiz.

Rolfes clarified the club’s stance on the centre-back’s future, revealing that they do not plan to sanction his departure.

"

Edmond should also play a very important role for us next season,"

the Leverkusen chief told

BILD

when asked about the Gunner’s interest in Tapsoba.

Tapsoba joined Bay Arena with an €18 million (£15m/$22m) transfer fee in 2019, signing a five-and-a-half-year contract.

He has made 61 appearances for Leverkusen, playing 39 of them this season. Tapsoba met the back of the net two times and contributed to a top-six finish on the Bundesliga table.

However, Arsenal would have to make a big-money offer for Tapsoba as his value increased since he joined Bay Arena. Arteta may have to cash in on some players like Granit Xhaka, Hector Bellerin and Luiz to be able to make some new signings.
