Former Brighton player Glenn Murray announces retirement from football

announced his retirement from professional football on Monday. The striker spent his career in various English clubs, including

Brighton

and

Crystal Palace

. Murray announced his retirement on social media, posting:

“To all the clubs, players and fans that I’ve come across on this life-changing journey… thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Murray joined

Carlisle United

in 2005 and helped them win the League Two title a season later. The striker moved to

before spending three seasons at Brighton. After his spells at Crystal Palace and

, the player returned to Brighton in 2017. Murray held the record for most goals scored in a Championship season with 30 goals in 2012-13. The record was broken last season as
