Ilkay Gundogan has picked up a knock in the team’s training ahead of their Champions League battle against Chelsea.

Manchester City

will play against

Chelsea

in the Champions League final on Saturday. The Citizens have been shocked by

Ilkay Gundogan

’s injury in the team’s training before the final. The former

Borussia Dortmund

midfielder withdrew before the end of Manchester City’s training session on Friday. The 30-year-old appeared to be suffering from discomfort in his right thigh after a collision with

Fernandinho

.

Pep Guardiola

conducted the team’s training match without Gundogan. However, the Spaniard appeared to be calm about the injury as he believes the nature of Gundogan's knock is impact rather than muscular, meaning it is not a major cause for concern.

Gundogan is the only member of the Citizens’ squad to have previously featured in a Champions League final. The German international scored Dortmund’s only goal in their 2-1 defeat against

Bayern Munich

in 2013. The player was substituted in his team’s match against

Brighton

last week after picking up a minor injury.

"I'm alright, I was a little bit cautious in that Brighton game,"

Gundogan said when asked about his fitness earlier this week.

"Because of the knock on my knee I started to feel all the muscles around it a little bit and I didn't want to pull anything.

"I didn't miss any training sessions, so I'm feeling good."

Gundogan is the only member of Manchester City’s squad who has fitness issues ahead of the final.
