Fri 28 May 2021 | 11:24

Manchester City have reached the Champions League final for the first time and have high hopes of winning the biggest european title.

Manchester City

star Raheem Sterling has claimed that the only thing that can stop his team from winning the Champions League is themselves.

City will play the Champions League final against

Chelsea

in Porto on Saturday. Guardiola's side performed very well throughout the season and won the Premier League title. However, they have suffered two defeats against Chelsea in the last six weeks.

Now, on the eve of the most important game of the season, Sterling claimed that he expects his team to defeat Chelsea and become champions, but the only thing that can prevent them from reaching the title is themselves.

He said:

"Chelsea are a strong a team who have a lot of physically strong players.

"We have played them twice and lost twice, but this is a Champions League final. On the day, things are a lot different.

"You go into it with a clean mindset, those games that happened against them in recent times go out the window. It is now about focusing on winning that trophy.

"The only things that can stop us are ourselves if I am honest. It is a game where I expect a difficult test but at the same time I expect us to pull through."

This is the first time Manchester City have reached the final of the competition and the former Liverpool winger, who joined City in 2015, continued: "

Since my time at this club that has been the ultimate goal, to try to reach the Champions League final and try to bring home the trophy.

There is one game to go, that being a Champions League final, so you don't need much more motivation than that."
