The Blaugrana captain has left Barcelona as he had taken permission to start his holidays early as he has to attend Argentina’s camp for their Copa America tournament.
According toDiario AS
, Barca has decided to take the lead and present an offer to Messi despite their ongoing internal audit. Joan Laporta has reportedly found a way to provide financial needs for offering Messi a deal to keep him at the club.
According to the reports, the deal which Laporta wants to offer will cut the 6-time Ballon d’Or winner’s salary in half, but the Argentine’s financial interests will be satisfied in the security of the contract’s duration, reportedly 10 years in length.
Although the Argentine is yet to respond to the offer that he has to accept a significant salary reduction, Laporta and the squad are optimistic about Messi’s contract renewal.
Being strongly linked to Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, the Argentina captain is unlikely to make a decision before Copa America has finished.
