Inter considering former players as Conte’s successor

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are considering Sinisa Mihajlovic, Dejan Stankovic and Walter Zenga to replace Antonio Conte.

, the Nerazzurri’s CEO, should find a new coach and they do not have much time. There are some surprises in the list of potential successors.

As per reports, Maurizio Sarri will most likely not join the club as they need to cut costs; however, the club won’t put him aside completely.

A number of former players emerge in the list, with Bologna coach Mihajlovic being among them. He featured for Inter and was Roberto Mancini’s assistant manager. Another one on the list is Stankovic, who played at San Siro from 2004 until 2013 when he hung up his boots.

The 42-year-old contributed to two Serbian championships in a row with Red Star and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Marotta is interested in bringing him back.

The ex-goalkeeper Zenga emerges as another candidate and he has not been working since leaving Cagliari in 2020.
