United will have a difficult task against their Spanish rivals to win the only trophy of the season.
Former Uruguayan national team star, Diego Forlan who has played forManchester United
, believes that the Red Devils will not be the favorite to win the Europa League final.
United will face Villarreal tonight at the Gdansk Stadium to in Europa League final. This is United's eighth European final, but Villarreal have reached this stage for the first time. Unai Emery's side have been unbeaten in European competitions this season, and the Spanish coach intends to become the first coach in history to win four Europa League titles or the UEFA Cup. Now Forlan claims that United's chances of winning this match are not higher than Villarreal.
"I don't think Manchester United is the favourite," Forlan told Stats Perform.
"People say Manchester United due to its history, what it means, and for being such a big club. No doubt it is.
"However, for the game, the past is useless, what counts is the present, the performance itself.
"That's why players for Manchester United are careful, because they know they can win but also they can lose, 50-50.
"Maybe people are underrating what Villarreal history has. It is a team who always compete very well. They play very good football and they can hurt Manchester United."
