Dani Alves reveals regret at missing out Man City move in 2017

Former Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has admitted he regrets turning down the opportunity to join Manchester City and link up again with Pep Guardiola in 2017.

The now 38-year-old worked alongside

Pep Guardiola

during their time together at


, from 2008 up until the Catalan's departure for

Bayern Munich

in 2012, winning three La Liga titles and two Champions League.

After just an unhappy season at 


, Alves had various options to consider as he plotted another move.

The Brazilian defender was heavily linked with a move to

Manchester City

, but he opted to move to

Paris Saint-Germain

, where he played for two years before returning to Brazil.

Speaking during a new interview with SporTV in Brazil, Dani Alves has revealed his regret at not reuniting with him at the Etihad Stadium in 2017.

"I regret not going to Manchester City to work with Guardiola again,”

said Alves


"When you are with people like him [Guardiola], who always finds a way out, it adds a lot to you. My regret was not having gone to work with him again.

"But not [regret] for PSG, because the story that I lived at PSG was incredible."
