The Uruguayan striker has vowed to remain at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium ahead of the summer transfer window.

Luis Suarez

scored

Atletico Madrid

’s match-winner in their battle against

Real Valladolid

on Saturday. The Uruguayan striker was a key player for

Diego Simeone

’s team in their title-winning campaign, scoring 21 goals and providing 3 assists in his 32 league appearances for the Spanish side. The former

Barcelona

star has been linked with a move away from Atletico Madrid in recent weeks, with

Liverpool

being mooted as his most likely destination. In an interview with

Movistar

, the 34-year-old spoke about his future.

"Yes, I'm sure (I'll stay). Atletico welcomed me from the minute I arrived. I asked the club if there was room for me on the museum wall to make history at Atletico."

Suarez said.

Suarez signed a two-year contract with the Rojiblancos last summer. However, according to

Marca

, there is a clause in the player’s contract that would allow him to leave the club for free on June 30, 2021.

He added:

"I've no doubts that people can get tired, but I'm very hard-headed. I knew and know that this club can keep growing and I hope it will continue like this.

"The club keeps growing. All of the unseen people have given the club stability beyond results. They've always wanted this. They're not here celebrating, but soon we'll all embrace.
