Lukaku: Things were not working anymore at Old Trafford

The Belgium international has opened up about his transfer to Inter and the future of his career.

has been a crucial player for

Inter

this season as they managed to win their first Serie A title in eleven years. The Belgian striker has featured in 35 matches for

Antonio Conte

’s team in their current league campaign, scoring 23 goals and providing 10 assists. Ahead of his side’s last Serie A match of the season, Lukaku was asked about his transfer to Inter.

"Things were not working anymore at United,"

Lukaku told

Rtbf Sport

.

"If you receive a better offer from somewhere else, then why not try it? I had the chance to try something different and it worked for me."

After spending an unsuccessful spell at

Manchester United

, Lukaku moved to Inter with a €74m deal in 2019. The player has become Conte’s favorite player at Inter, with the Italian coach repeatedly praising him for his special qualities as a striker.

Asked about the reason behind Conte’s admiration for him, Lukau responded:

"Conte has no fear about hard work, if you play for him, you must be aware you'll have to work hard."

The 27-year-old reveals he is a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers.

"I support Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe Bryant was everything for me. I try to imitate his mentality and his love for sports,"

Lukaku said.

Asked about his future after retiring from football, Lukaku responded:

"I want to become a coach, but I will start from the youth teams and take a step at a time,"

Inter will face

Udinese

in their last fixture of the season on Sunday.
