The Blaugrana has confirmed their captain has been granted permission to start his holidays early as he has to attend Argentina’s camp for their Copa America tournament. In addition to the 6-time Ballon d’Or winner, Barca’s prodigy, Pedri, will also skip the game.
The 33-year-old winger has played in all but two of Barca's league games in the current season, making 47 appearances in all competitions as well as leading the La Liga goalscoring charts 30 goals. Villarreal’s Gerard Moreno is the closest rival in the chart with 23 goals.
With his current contract with Barcelona running out this summer, it is unclear whether Messi will play for the Catalans again as he has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain. The Blaugrana captain had his attempt to leave the club blocked last summer.
However, the new Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, hopes that his good relationship with Messi help him to persuade the Barcelona legend to commit his future to the club as he has reportedly sanctioned a 10-year contract offer for the six-time Ballon d'Or winner.
