Tue 18 May 2021 | 19:07

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has been recalled by Didier Deschamps to the France squad for the upcoming European Championship.

According to L'Equipe,

Deschamps

has included

Benzema

in France’s 26-man squad for the first time since 2015 following his alleged role in the sex-tape blackmail of former France team-mate

Mathieu Valbuena

.

The

Real Madrid

striker has consistently denied the allegations made against him, but that was seemingly not enough to see him return to the Les Bleus squad, for whom he scored 27 goals in 81 appearances before being exiled.

However, Deschamps has had a change of heart and decided to hand Benzema a recall to international duty after fantastic form at Santiago Bernabeu over the past few years.
