The Asian Football Confederation confirmed that North Korea are out of the qualifying game for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar for next month.
North Korea’s reasons for departing will be discussed by the AFC to FIFA. They will also consider the effect their leave will have on the rest of the opponents.
After five round of games, North Korea were sitting fourth on the table. They had also left the Olympic Games for the summer due to the coronavirus pandemic.
They had the same points as Lebanon and South Korea. Turkmenistan are sitting top of Group H, whereas Sri Lanka have yet to meet the target and get a point.
The rest of the group games are part of the Asia’s second round of Preliminary tournaments which will be played in South Korea.
Next year’s World Cup qualification in Asia is planned to end in November 2021.
At the World Cup held in Qatar, concussion spotters are going to be present to improve the head injuries an “awful lot safer”.
They will be in the stands, responsible for identifying brain injuries which medical staff might have missed. Team doctors are also going to look for signs by watching the video replays, according to Andrew Massey, the medical director.
Often in football matches you miss these, even if you're sitting on the front row,"
"All FIFA competitions will have video replays. All FIFA competitions will have concussion spotters in the stand who can go through all these things and relay information to the team benches if it is needed."
