Ahead of the Sunday Derby della Capitale, Lazio's boss expects a challenging game against Roma as he discusses José Mourinho’s appointment as Roma manager.
In the race for a Champions League spot, Lazio will face their local rival, Roma, on Sunday.
“It’s not a game like the others, we have had some problems, but we still believe we can qualify for the Champions League,” Lazio coach Inzaghi said at a press conference.
“We know it’s going to be a challenging game tomorrow, I’ll ask the lads to have the same humility and determination we’ve had in the second part of the season.”
On Jose Mourinho’s appointment as the new Giallorossi head coach, Inzaghi said: “We’ll think about it later on. For now, we only want to focus on the derby and the next games. Mourinho will be an added value for Roma.”
Simone Inzaghi has served Lazio in Derby Della Capitale both as a coach and as a player. Asked about his favorite derby memories, the 45-year-old said: “As a player, I enjoyed the 2-1 win in the season when we won the Scudetto. We were behind Juventus in the table and we went down to one goal, but we recovered with goals from Nedved and Veron.
“As a coach, I pick the one in the Coppa Italia semi-final, we had won the first-leg, but we played the second leg after a couple of months. We were a little worried, but the reward made everything more special.”
