Klopp warns Liverpool players about their remaining matches

Sun 09 May 2021 | 7:58

The Reds boss says his side can qualify for the Champions League if they manage to win all of their remaining league matches.

Liverpool

won their crucial match against

Southampton

with a 2-0 result on Saturday. Two goals from

Sadio Mane

and

Thiago Alcantara

sealed the victory for

Jurgen Klopp

’s team as they kept their Champions League dreams alive in a hard-fought match. The reigning champions sit sixth in the Premier League with 57 points and they are still four points away from the Champions League zone. In a post-match interview, Klopp insisted his side can secure a Champions League spot by winning their remaining matches.

"Yes. If we do that, I think it will be enough,"

he told Sky Sports.

"But that's a big if. We play Manchester United on Thursday.

"I know they play Tuesday and they play Sunday and they have a big schedule, but if you look at the squad they have, they can make changes, there's no doubt about that.

"It's of course not good for them to play three games in a week. It's absolutely crazy, I really don't understand that. But it's how it is.”

Liverpool have shown signs of their best form in recent weeks. The Reds have won three of their last five league matches, but Klopp knows the remaining battles won’t be easy for his side.

"All the other games, we will see. If West Brom is still fighting for the league, Burnley maybe as well, all these kinds of things.

"All the teams have their targets, and if they don't have the targets any more because they reached them already, then they can play completely without pressure – and that's not nice as well.

"We will have pressure. As long as we win, we will have pressure, because then we can reach something. If not, then not."

Liverpool will play against

Manchester United

in their next Premier League clash on Thursday.
