Neymar signs an extension contract at PSG

Sat 08 May 2021 | 13:02

The Brazil international has put an end to the speculations by putting pen to paper for an extension contract at PSG that will keep him until 2025.

Paris Saint-Germain

have confirmed that

Neymar

signed a long-term contract that will keep him until 2025.

The 29-year-old, who joined the Ligue 1 giants in 2017 from Barcelona with a world-record price tag, has ended the rumors about his future by renewing his contract with PSG. It is a major boost for the Parisians as they have benefited from his contribution to both domestic and European football since his arrival.

"

It is a great happiness to extend the adventure at Paris Saint-Germain,"

Neymar told the club's official website.

"I am very happy in Paris.

"It is a real pride to be part of this group, to work with these players, this great coach and to be part of the history of this club. These are things that make me believe even more in this great project.

"Here I have grown as a person, as a human being and as a player, too. So I'm very happy to extend and I hope to win many more trophies here."

President

Nasser Al-Khelaifi

added:

"The centre of gravity of our ambitious project to grow PSG lies in the heart, the talent and the total involvement of our players."

"I am proud to see Neymar reaffirm today his long-term commitment, until 2025, to the Paris Saint-Germain family, whose fans he will continue to delight.

"We are very happy to see him continue to be part of our project and to be by our side for many more years."

The Brazilian has made more than a hundred appearances for the French side after his €222 million (£193m/$270m) move, raising PSG’s profile as they aim to establish themselves among Europe’s historic elite. During his first three campaigns, he contributed to two domestic trebles and another double, grabbing the

Ligue 1

title in each of those seasons.

The announcement will delight both club powerbrokers and supporters as they are aiming to grab continental success and the Champions League.

The nearest that they have gotten to the desired trophy was their last season’s final loss at the hands of

Bayern Munich

and this season they fell short in the semi-final against

Manchester City

.

As Kylian Mbappe’s future is still somewhat of a question mark, Neymar’s commitment to the club is a great boost for Mauricio Pochettino since he tries to build his own vision after a tiring half-season in charge.
