The Portuguese coach will lead Roma from next season.
Paulo Fonseca believes that his termination withRoma
is the right decision and Jose Mourinho will surely have a good performance in this team.
Roma will host Manchester United in the return leg of the Europa League semi-final tonight. Meanwhile, the first match between the two teams ended in a 6-2 victory for United and Roma will not have much chance to reach the final. Regardless of the outcome of tonight's match, Fonseca will leave the club at the end of the season to be replaced by Jose Mourinho, and now he praised the club's decision to select the Portuguese coach.
“Professionalism is a sacred value for me,”
said Fonseca told reporters.
“I am fine, just as I was the first day I arrived. I am motivated and want to do my best for Roma until the last day I’m here. Mourinho is a great coach and will do a great job here.
“It’s not a problem for me, I experience this moment with the same professionalism as always.”
Fonesca added on tonight's match:
“I can’t lie, it’s not easy to beat Manchester United 4-0. I’ve seen many things in football and nothing is impossible, so I can still believe. It’s not a comforting result, but we want to win and fight to the end.”
