Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has hailed his side’s persistence this season and insisted being in the Champions League semi-finals is no miracle.

Real Madrid

face

Chelsea

in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.

The tie is very much in the balance with the first leg having finished 1-1 in the Spanish capital, though the matchup is slightly advantage to Chelsea in the tie thanks to

Christian Pulisic

’s away goal to open the scoring.

Zidane believes the fact they have progressed until this stage despite a lengthy injury list is down to the team's mentality.

"You have to take your hat off to this team,"

he told reporters on Tuesday.

"Every time there are difficulties, they respond. They are the best. We are where we want to be and it is deserved.

"The team has character, first of all, and when things get complicated, they are there."

"It's not a miracle to be here, not at all, on the contrary,"

he said.

"We are here for our work and because we believe in what we do.

"We're here because of our work, nothing else. In football, there are no miracles."
