PSG set to offer a deal to Messi that Barcelona cannot outshine

Tue 27 April 2021 | 21:43

According to TNT Sports Brazil and journalist Marcelo Bechler of Mundo Deportivo, Paris Saint-Germain has approached Barcelona captain Lionel Messi. The Argentine has been given a two-year deal with the possibility of a third season by the Ligue 1 giants.

From a financial standpoint, PSG believes that Barcelona can't surpass the deal they've made to Messi, and from a sporting standpoint, they can make the claim that they reached the final of the

Champions League

last season and are in the semi-finals this season after eliminating Barcelona in the last 16.

Messi's agreement with the Catalans laps on June 30th, and the 33-year-old is yet to decide where he will play next season. He won't do that until the end of the season. This month, Messi won the Copa del Rey, and his team is still in contention for

La Liga

and are also favorites.

Bechler

is a super-reliable journalist who broke the news of

Neymar's transfer

to PSG in 2017 and the notorious

burofax

episode last summer.
