Ernesto Paolillo, the former Inter Chairman, explains why he would never forgive José Mourinho, claiming that Massimo Moratti declined to recruit Antonio Conte since he "didn't want a juventino."
In 2010, Paolillo was Inter's President when they secured the treble with
at the helm.
Within the same night as Inter'sChampions League
victory at the Stadio Bernabeu, the Portuguese manager met with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
"My idea was to dismantle the team. It was a winning team, but players were tired and empty. Mourinho knew it and ran away that same night. I will never forgive him for doing so," Paolillo told Calciomercato.com.
"I was convinced that team should have been dismantled because you can't win the Champions League and tell media you want a new contract immediately after."
Diego Milito, who had told the press that he wanted a contract renewal after the award ceremony, was mentioned by Paolillo.
"I thought it would have been great to start from the beginning with a different coach than Rafa Benitez. I had thought about Conte. He remembers that.
"I had talked to him during a game. He had clear ideas, but the real problem was that Moratti didn't want to bring a Juventino after Mourinho left."
Conte was fired by Atalanta in 2010 and went on to winSerie A
qualification with Siena the next season before joining Juventus in the summer of 2011.
