Real Madrid

centre-back

Raphael Varane

has talked about his contract amid speculations of him being targeted by

Manchester United

and

Chelsea

.

Rumors regarding the French defender’s future have been raising as he reaches the final year of his contract and no agreement has been reached regarding an extension.

Speculations suggested that the 28-year-old may make a move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window as Manchester United and Chelsea are targeting him. However, Varane insisted that he is focusing on Real Madrid at the moment.

In an interview before the clash against Chelsea on Tuesday, Varane said:

“My future is clear. I am focused on the end of this season.

"We are in a very intense and key moment."

When asked if he plans to stay at the Bernabeu, he responded:

"It is normal that my focus is on the end of the season. The message to the fans is that I am 100 per cent committed to the team.

"We have challenges that encourage us a lot. I am focused on giving everything on the field."

Real Madrid manager

Zinedine Zidane

tried to push the rumors away in November, indicating that Varane is a crucial player for the team and they do not plan to cash in on him.

Florentino Perez

, however, wasn’t as convincing as Zidane when asked about Varane last week, as he told

El Larquero

:<em>

"Varane? I’m happy with our team... if players don't want to stay at Madrid they can leave."

Varane has established himself as one of the most high-profile defenders, having shown talismanic performances for Madrid during the last 10 years, winning 18 trophies.

He has contributed to three La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies. He has made 357 appearances for his side and had a remarkable partnership with Sergio Ramos.
