A late 94th-minute equalizer from Joe Willock put an end to a dramatic after-noon at Anfield, where Liverpool dropped more valuable points in their bid for a top-four Premier League finish in their 1-1 draw with Newcastle.
The Reds had 22 shots on goal but only scored once, by Mohamed Salah in the 3rd-minute. While Saint-Maximin produced a man-of-the-match display, Sadio Mane was guilty of missing several clear chances during the contest.
Answering a fan who asked "Can you come to Liverpool and Mane goes the other way?” on Twitter, the French winger wrote: "I know you think it’s a nice message to me but I don’t like this. "Be respectful to him please you are ungrateful, he did and he’s doing a lot for Liverpool, there still a long way before I could reach his level."
Although Saint-Maximin has missed a large portion of the current campaign due to a combination of injuries and coronavirus, he’s been in brilliant form recently, registering three goals and five assists in his 21 Premier League appearances.
