The Blues boss has confirmed his side will face the Blancos without the service of their Croatian midfielder.

Mateo Kovacic

has not been able to play in his side’s last three matches due to a thigh injury. The player was injured in the

’ match against

Crystal Palace

on April 10. Despite the initial optimism toward his injury,

Thomas Tuchel

has confirmed the 26-year-old will be out of Chelsea’s crucial Champions League match against

Real Madrid

“Mateo Kovacic is still out, but the rest are available (for this weekend against West Ham),”

Tuchel told a press conference.

“I think we can hope he will make the game against Fulham, between the two games against Madrid, but that is not certain.

“For him to play against Madrid I do not think it is possible, but Fulham is a realistic goal for him.”

Kovacic has appeared in 25 matches for Chelsea in their current league campaign as they sit fourth in the Premier League with 55 points from their 32 matches. Before facing the Blancos, Tuchel’s team will play against

West Ham

in their next Premier League match on Saturday.
