The man taking over after Jose Mourinho’s dismissal has provided an update on the England international’s fitness.

Tottenham

’s interim manager

Ryan Mason

said that

Harry Kane

may not feature for his side in their battle against

Manchester City

in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday as he is struggling with an ankle injury

Spurs fans have been worried about the star striker’s fitness after he was sent off in their 2-2 draw with

Everton

on Friday.

The 27-year-old scored a brace before leaving the pitch as he sustained an ankle injury and Mason has admitted that Kane has yet to recover for their midweek battle against

Southampton

.

When quizzed about Kane’s condition, Mason said:

"Not sure. Didn't train today.

"Taking it day by day. Not sure about the weekend yet."

Tottenham’s hopes of defeating City are dampened by Kane’s absence and should it take longer for him to recover, he may miss his chance of helping Tottenham finish in the top-four on the

Premier League

table.

The next match is going to be against Sheffield United on May 1 and then they will lock horns with Leeds United. Mason is hanging on to hope that Kane will be back by then.

Tottenham are sitting seventh on the table and suffered exits in both Europa League and FA Cup. Kane has met the target 31 times in 43 appearances and contributed 16 assists this season.
