Ranieri: “The Super League is so bad”

Tue 20 April 2021 | 18:19

Claudio Ranieri was reminded of Leicester City’s Premier League title when heard about the Super League and is hoping UEFA and FIFA will prevent it.

Ranieri

, who grabbed the

Premier League

title with

Leicester City

in 2016, spoke to media before

Sampdoria

’s battle against

Crotone

.

It’s very sad for me, the Super League is so bad,”

the coach said.

“The Leicester story was something special, and we’d lose these stories. It’s not just about football, I remember the feeling between Indian and English people celebrating Leicester City’s title together.

“That achievement with Leicester is the first thing I thought about when I heard the news, regardless of I was part of it.

“That’s what football is about: an underdog can beat a big club, that’s the essence of sport.

“What they are trying to do is wrong. Maybe they are doing it to cover all their debts? It’s not fair for football. I hope UEFA will stop them.”
