Lothar Matthäus is 'convinced' Julian Nagelsmann will replace Flick
Lothar Matthäus believes that Julian Nagelsmann will leave RB Leipzig to succeed Hansi Flick as Bayern München mentor.
Talking after Saturday's
Bundesligatriumph against Wolfsburg, Flick stated that he wishes to leave Bayern this late spring, similarly as Matthäus anticipated in an interview with Sky recently.
In a similar conversation, Matthäus asserted that the Bavarians are keen to replace Flick with
RB Leipzig
head coach
Julian Nagelsmann
.
Nagelsmann's contract with the Red-Bulls is until 2023's end, but he has since denied any contact with Bayern, yet Matthäus is in no uncertainty that the 33-year-old will steer at Allianz Arena this late spring.
"Of course, FC Bayern did not talk to Julian Nagelsmann directly, but they have opened talks with Julian Nagelsmann's representatives. I still stand by that today," Matthäus told Sky.
"I am convinced that Julian Nagelsmann will be Hansi Flick's successor," added the former German international.
"He wants to take the next step."
