Mendy hands Real Madrid injury blow ahead of UCL tie against Chelsea

Sat 17 April 2021 | 17:28

Real Madrid have been given another untimely injury blow as their French left-back Ferland Mendy could miss Los Blancos’ game against Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final due to a calf injury.

Zinedine Zidane

has seen his team ravaged by physical problems during the 2020-2021 campaign, and the defensive line is the one that is the most affected.

Mendy

has therefore just added to his concerns. The former Lyon will likely need around 10 days to recover from injury, and he is a major doubt for the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against

Chelsea

on April 27.

Real Madrid

have posted on their

official website

: "Following the tests carried out today on our player Ferland Mendy by the Real Madrid medical department, he has been diagnosed with an overload to the soleus muscle in his left leg.

"His recovery will be monitored."
