Sun 11 April 2021 | 17:59

The Portugal international was believed to be letting go of his frustration by throwing his jersey following Juventus’ Serie A clash.

Cristiano Ronaldo

threw away his shirt out of frustration after

Juventus

’ 3-1 victory over

Genoa

on Sunday and a ball boy picked it up. It was explained that the jersey was given away as a gift.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was not pleased when he couldn’t meet the target in the

Serie A

match.

Dejan Kulusevski, Alvaro Morata and Weston McKennie found the target and led their side to a victory, but the 36-year-old attracted the media’s attention following his reaction at the end of the game.

A few weeks back, the Portugal star made headlines after throwing his armband when his goal was disallowed in Portugal’s draw against Serbia in the World Cup qualifier clash.

Juve’s manager

Andrea Pirlo

backed the forward when asked about his reaction.

It’s normal he wanted to score a goal, especially seeing that the match had turned out in a certain way,"

he said to

Sky Sport

.

"It is part of the attitude of champions who always want to leave their mark."

Notwithstanding failing to appear on the scoresheet, Ronaldo pulled off an impressive performance for his side. He had helped Morata score his goal when he bounced the ball into his path for an easy strike.

Ronaldo had tried to find the net six times during the game.
