Although Bilbao’s San Mames stadium has a capacity of 53,289, there’s a belief that only 25 percent of capacity is a realistic target due to the Covid pandemic situation at Spain.
As reported byMarca
, the planned percentage is below the threshold that UEFA would like as the organization is hopeful of 33 or even 50 percent capacities being reached.
While Denmark offers 11,000 spectators at the Parken in Copenhagen, 33 percent of the stadium’s capacity, Saint Petersburg offers 50 percent of the capacity of its stadium, 34,000 fans.
Spain’s fixtures against Poland, Sweden, and Slovakia are planned to be held at San Mames stadium while the city council, the Basque Government, the Provincial Council, and Athletic Club are against the decision as many locals identify themselves as Basque rather than Spanish.
