Borussia Dortmund striker Jadon Sancho has hit out at referee Ovidiu Hategan on twitter after he denied Jude Bellingham’s equalizer against Manchester City in the first leg of Champions League quarter-final.

Jude Bellingham

almost cancelled out

Kevin de Bruyne

’s opener at the Etihad when he blocked

Man City

’s clearance and sent the ball into an empty net.

But referee

Ovidiu Hategan

ruled it out for a foul on Ederson and booked Bellingham. Because the official blew his whistle before the ball rolled into the back of the net, VAR could not approve the goal.

Former Manchester City striker

Jadon Sancho

questioned Hategan’s decision on his Twitter account.

"This ref needs checking!"

he tweeted, minutes after the incident

Dortmund managed to find an equalizer in the game through

Marco Reus

in the final stage of the game, but

Phil Foden

scored the winner for Pep Guardiola’s side in the dying moments.
