Eden Hazard out of Real Madrid’s squad for Liverpool clash

Mon 05 April 2021 | 19:43

Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard has recovered from injury sooner than expected, but not yet fit enough to play against Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-final.

Real Madrid

manager

Zinedine Zidane

had hinted that the Belgian international could be back in the fold on Tuesday against

Liverpool

.

However, despite being involved in Madrid's last three training sessions he failed to prove his well-being, and therefore he has not been included on the 21-man list.

With Hazard on the brink of a return to action, Zidane believes that the showdown with Liverpool is still too early for the former

Chelsea

striker.

"Eden has to be calm,"

Zidane

said at a press conference

on Monday, prior to the announcement of the squad.

"We never risk a player returning if he's not ready.

"We'll do things little by little and we'll see when he'll play again. That's how it is at the moment."

The good news for Zidane is that Federico Valverde has returned and is ready to play on Tuesday for the first time since March 20.
