The 18-year-old has caught the attention of many major clubs in Europe following an astonishing season at Jose Alvalade Stadium.
He made his debut in June when he turned 18 and has found his way through the Portugal national team, making three appearances during the World Cup qualifiers.
Sporting are sitting top of the Primeira Liga, eager to grab the first title in 19 years. Mendes has shown off a spectacular performance, missing only four games this season and speculations surrounding his move are raising.
Manchester United are among the clubs interested in putting pen to paper with Mendes and hope that adding Telles to the deal can give them the edge.
Telles contributed to two titles at Porto, before moving to United with a £15.4million transfer fee in October.
He was expected to compete with Luke Shaw over a regular start place but has only featured in seven games, with the last one coming in a 2-1 loss at the hands of Sheffield United.
Telles was running on a rich vein of form last season, meeting the target 13 times in 49 matches at Porto. However, he was given little chance to show his potentials at United.
