Pulisic out of action due to hamstring injury

Sun 04 April 2021 | 9:11

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Christian Pulisic has suffered another hamstring injury.

Christian Pulisic

was substituted off between the two halves in

Chelsea

's disastrous 5-2 defeat to

West Brom

on Saturday, and now

Thomas Tuchel

has confirmed that the American star has suffered a hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old star felt pain in his hamstring between the two halves but hoped to be able to continue playing until the end of the match. However, after a brief warm-up before the start of the second half, Pulisic was subbed off.

Pulisic's new injury is the player's fourth muscle injury this season and his eighth at Chelsea since joining the club in 2019.

Tuchel hopes Pulisic's absence will be short, as the Blues will face

Porto

in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.

"Christian did a sprint when he came back out for the second half and said that he felt his hamstring would not survive the game if he continued,"

Tuchel said.

"So we had to make the decision to substitute him right away,"

The American star was able to score 7 goals in the last 11 games of last season to have helped his team significantly in reaching the top-four and the FA Cup final.
