Cristiano Ronaldo’s armband was sold for more than £50,000 in an auction to fund a vital treatment for a Serbian six-month-old boy.

Cristiano Ronaldo

tossed away his armband in

’s game against Serbia last Saturday and stormed off the pitch as officials disagreed with him and believed that the ball had not crossed the line.

Djordje Vukicevic

was at the pitchside for the game at that moment and was able to pick up the armband when Ronaldo tossed it away. He then donated it for an auction to help a Serbian six-month-old boy, according to Serbian news reports.

The young child has spinal muscular atrophy and his treatment costs more than €2 million.

Jovan Simic

, the founder of the humanitarian organization Zajedno za Zivot (Together for Life), said that the armband had been bought by

Mozzart Bet company

for the "great figure of 7.5 million dinars” which amounts to around £54,300.

Simic added:

"Congratulations to firefighter Djordje and his colleagues, as well as to all the wonderful people who helped!”
