Manchester City will need to be on fire from the first whistle of their quarter-final game against Barcelona if they want to catch the Spanish giants off guard.

USWNT midfielder

Sam Mewis

is ready to get out of her comfort zone and is looking forward to the challenge

Manchester City

face in the UEFA Women's Champions League this week.

The Citizens lost 3-0 in the first leg of their quarter-final tie against

last Wednesday, with the Spanish champions feeling confident heading into the clash in Manchester.

Mewis says that she and her teammates are hungry to achieve a comeback against Barcelona.

"I definitely am looking forward to the challenge [of the midfield battle]. Barcelona's midfield was great,"

Mewis said

"That's why I came here, to be challenged like this. I definitely don't think I played my best [in the first leg] and I'm excited because I think our midfield, and our whole team, has a lot more that we can showcase tomorrow. It is a great test, but without tests like this, you don't get the chance to really prove how good you can be.

"I think we're all really looking forward to it and we all kind of have a chip on our shoulder from last week that we want to come away from this game feeling a lot better. We know we've got to just score some goals."
