Liverpool are reported to be having negotiations with RB Leipzig to put pen to paper with the 21-year-old.

The France Under-21 international

Ibrahima Konate

admitted that his phone was “ringing all over the place” after the reports claimed that he is moving to

Based on reports from

The Athletic

, the Reds were on the verge of an agreement with RB Leipzig about signing the defender.

Konate insists that the rumours did not distract him, as he is concentrating his focus on France and their aim to advance at the European Under-21 Championship.

I woke up, I saw my phone ringing all over the place,”

Konate told

“I just wanted to tell them, ‘Hey, I played yesterday, I’m tired, leave me alone'.

“Frankly, I don’t even look at this. We can’t focus on that, there are the Euros and then my return to the club. You have to focus on that and not on the external things.”

Although other clubs are eyeing the 21-year-old, Liverpool seem to be more confident in adding him to the squad to be Virgil van Dijk’s potential partner.

Van Dijk has been dealing with a knee injury that ruined his season, while Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Fabinho have also been out getting treatments for a significant time.

Although Jurgen Klopp tried to make up for the problems in January, signing Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies did little to solve them.
