Referee apologized Ronaldo after disallowing his goal

Ronaldo was very angry after his goal was disallowed.

Dutch referee Danny Makkelie apologized to Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese national team for disallowing their goal against Serbia.

Portugal

faced Serbia in the World Cup qualifier and ended in a 2-2 draw. Ronaldo scored in the final minutes, but the referee disallowed his goal. Slow motion pictures showed that the ball was cleared by Alexander Mitrovich after crossing the line completely, and the referee should have declared the goal in favor of Portugal, but in the end, the referee, in consultation with linesman, rejected his goal. Now the Dutch referee apologized to Ronaldo and the Portuguese national team for his decision.

"As per FIFA's policies, all I can say is that I apologised to the national coach, Fernando Santos, and to the Portuguese team for what happened,"

Makkelie told Portuguese publication
