Havertz: It's been a tough season

Mon 29 March 2021 | 9:35

Chelsea midfielder says he is 'positive' about the future despite his tough start with the Blues.

Having left

Bayer Leverkusen

with a £70 million deal,

Kai Havertz

joined

Chelsea

in the summer transfer window. The young midfielder has not been able to fulfill expectations at Stamford Bridge during his first season in the Premier League. The 21-year-old admits it has been a ‘tough’ season so far but believes he can bounce back from his current form.

Speaking in a post-match interview after Germany’s 1-0 win over Romania, Havertz told reporters:

"It's been a tough season. I know that things haven't been going smoothly.

"But I think that's normal when you first go abroad. It takes half a year or longer to adjust.

"I think that things are going well right now so I don't want to overthink those negative impressions from the past.

"I am positive and hope that the next weeks will be every bit as good."

Chelsea will play their next Premier League match against

West Brom

on April 3.
