Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has requested the club’s board to keep hold of the Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

Georginio Wijnaldum

’s current deal at Anfield is due to expire this summer, and he is yet to reach an agreement to extend his stay with the Reds.

As per

, Klopp has urged the club’s board to pay up and give Wijnaldum what he demands to keep him at the club, but they seem unwilling to do so.

The 30-year-old is said to have reached a verbal agreement over a deal with

, where he could like up with compatriots Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Koeman, former Dutch national team manager.

However, Wijnaldum has admitted that it would be difficult for him to leave

“[It is] really difficult [to leave] because if that happens you leave a team who you really love, a team you share a lot of years together and where you feel really comfortable,”

he said earlier this month

“It will be difficult but you don't know the situation, why you have to leave it always depends on the situation. But I would be devastated that I don't play with this team anymore, that is for sure.”

It is clear that Klopp has accepted that Wijnaldum will be on his way out of the door this summer, and the club now face a difficult task to find a reliable replacement.
