Sat 27 March 2021 | 10:15

The Reds forward says his side must avoid making excuses for their recent form.

Having won their first English top-flight title in 30 years,

Liverpool

faced an injury crisis in their journey to defend their title in the current season.

Jurgen Klopp

’s team sit seventh in the Premier League as they have collected 46 points from their 29 league matches. However, the Reds are still alive in the Champions League and they are set to meet

Real Madrid

in the quarter-finals.

"We have to deal with the situation and not stop believing, but keep fighting, keep our motivation and go again,"

Mane said.

"When you are a fighter you never try to make excuses, we are here to find solutions. Being together with my team-mates always gives me high energy.

"In football and in life in general you can't expect anything and for years and years this complicated situation has not happened.”

Despite remaining as a key player for his team, Mane’s individual statistics have also taken a dip this season. The 28-year-old has scored 7 goals and provided 5 assists in his 26 appearances for Liverpool in their current league campaign.

"We have always been successful, but now this has happened and we can see it is like how life is.

"We need to be positive and fight. This is what we try to do to change this situation and I'm sure that it will change."

Liverpool will play against

Arsenal

in their next league match on April 3.
