Laporta's financing for FC Barcelona presidency has sparked controversy.
Marca has claimed that Joan Laporta, the new president ofFC Barcelona
, has received €10m of the guarantee he needed to head the club from a friend with an unknown identity.
The club president must provide a €124.6m bailout to La Liga, which has sparked controversy since Laporta was elected president of Barcelona. Previously, it was announced that €60 million euros of this amount, funded by the management team, Jaume Roures paid €30m and 17 million euros were provided by Audax (9 million by Jose Elia and 8.3 million euros by Eduard Romeu). Laporta also personally offered €15m in bailouts, and Antonio Escudero and Jordi Llaurado paid €1.3m and €1m respectively.
However, of Laporta's €15m share, 10 million euros has been secured by a friend whose identity is unknown. Another €5 million has been financed by loans. However, the financial documents have been sufficient and La Liga has accepted Laporta's request to head the club.
