Chelsea defeated Bayern Munich last summer over three players.

Bayern Munich

boss Hansi Flick has claimed that he wanted to sign three

players, but that the club's sporting director, Hassan Salihimdzic, had never failed over transfers.

Following the brilliance of Callum Hudson-Odoi at Chelsea, Bayern Munich made every effort in the summer of 2020 to transfer him to Germany. Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, who moved to Chelsea from RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, were also on Flick's list, but they eventually opted for the Premier League, and Flick claims that the club has never rejected his requests.

He told

Sky Deutschland

“It is always said that Hudson-Odoi and [Serginho] Dest were my desired players, but they were our desired players.

“We decided that we wanted to add players for the wide areas and that is what we did. Havertz, Werner and Sane were mentioned, I would have loved to have all three, but we all decided on Sane. He’s a player who makes a difference.”

Bayern did not make any big signing last summer and they tried to keep the players they have. They are expected to make some more signings in 2021 summer.
