Manchester United ruled out Ronaldo's return

Thu 18 March 2021 | 15:28

It seems that the case of returning to Old Trafford is closed for Ronaldo.

Reports suggest that

Manchester United

are not interested in bringing back Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

The Portuguese star is looking to leave Juventus after the team's failures in the Champions League. Juventus have been knocked out of the last 16 stage for the second season in a row after losing to Porto, and Ronaldo, who is entering the final stages of his career, is upset. Rumor has it that he wants to return to Manchester United or

Real Madrid

, but the

Express

has confirmed that Manchester United will not take any action to bring Ronaldo back next summer.

Bringing Ronaldo back has always been one of the goals of Ed Woodward, the club's executive director, but this time they seem to be focusing on other targets.

Ronaldo's salary of €31m per year is too high for Manchester United in the current economic climate and they are unable to pay that amount. United are said to be focusing on other targets such as Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland from Dortmund and Jules Kounde from Sevilla. West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is another target for the Red Devils.

Ronaldo joined Manchester United in 2003 and won three Premier League titles, a Champions League title and a Ballon d'Or until 2009, before moving on to Real Madrid.
