The Blancos midfielder scored an important goal in his side’s Champions League match on Tuesday.

Marco Asensio

has delivered mixed performances in the current season. The player has been criticized for his current form as he has not been able to score since January. However, the 25-year-old showed his goal-scoring qualities once again in his team’s Champions League clash against

Atalanta

on Tuesday. Asensio came in as a substitute in the 82nd minute and replaced

Federico Valverde

in the Blancos’ midfield. He scored Real Madrid’s third goal in the 84th minute as

Zinedine Zidane

’s team defeated Atalanta with a 3-1 result. Atalanta scored a spot-kick in the 83rd minute and Asensio’s strike killed their plans for a potential comeback. Asensio has scored only two goals in his 24 matches for Real Madrid in their current league campaign as they sit third in LaLiga. However, he is still backed by Zidane who wants him to take a central role in his team’s midfield.
