Although Bukayo Saka was expected to miss the game against Olympiacos, he is now feeling “much better” according to Mikel Arteta.
was forced off at half-time during Sunday’s game against Tottenham because of a hamstring problem.
It was first thought that he could miss around three weeks, but it seems he has reacted well to treatment and
has not ruled out the possibility of him playing in the game againstOlympiacos
on Thursday night, according toGoal
Arteta revealed in his pre-match press conference that Saka had been put through a fitness test on Wednesday to see whether he could feature in Thursday’s game.
“He was doing another test,” Arteta said. “Obviously he felt something muscular, but he’s been much, much better and evolving really well.
“So we will make a decision this afternoon on what we will do.”
If there are any doubts about Saka’s fitness,Arsenal
should let him rest and let Nicolas Pepe replace him.
They have a 3-1 lead from the first leg and they should be fine without Saka as he is more needed for the game against West Ham on Sunday and it might be a perfect opportunity for the 19-year-old to take a break and rest.
It also seems that other than Saka, Arteta does not have any major injury worries.
“Everybody is more or less OK,” Arteta said. “We had a few doubts, but hopefully everybody is going to be involved in the squad.”
