David Luiz still believes Arsenal have the chance to secure a top-four finish.
Although there is a 10-point gap between them and the Champions League qualification spots,
believes they have still the chance to secure a top-four finish as they have been able to win their last match against Tottenham, according toGoal
“We have to try and continue in this way, try to improve,” Luiz told the reporters.
“We are far (off), but we have a great team and we can continue in this way and try to win points every week.”
Arsenal are now entering a crucial stage as they are going to meet Olympiacos in Europa League and it is before another London derby with West Ham. They are then going to play against Liverpool after the March international break.
The Gunners are also going to meet Everton and Chelsea before the end of the season.
Arteta’s side have only lost one game in their last eight games in all competitions and it seems consistency is being found at just the right time and Luiz believes their last win against Tottenham means they still could secure a top-four finish.
“It is always a big game, a big derby with big history and everybody knows about this game.
“I think we did so, so well in the game – apart from the last 10 minutes where our team played with a lot of emotion and didn’t use our brains to control the game and use one more player on the pitch.
“But that is part of these kinds of games and I am so happy because the team has an identity, we try to control the possession and score all the time but I think we just have to be more efficient upfront.
“It is never easy to play against them but I am so happy with the performance of the team because we really understood the game before it started, how we had to beat them and I think we did that on the pitch.”
